What is Class B asbestos removal?
Class B covers non-friable (bonded) asbestos — material where the fibres are locked into a rigid product such as cement roof sheeting, eaves, fencing or floor tiles. It's the category that covers most asbestos found in Melbourne homes built before the mid-1980s. Friable (crumbling) asbestos needs a separate Class A licence.
How do I know if my house has asbestos?
If a Melbourne home was built or renovated before 1983, assume asbestos is present until a test proves otherwise. Common locations: eave linings, bathroom and laundry sheeting, roofing, fencing, and vinyl floor tile backing.
Do I have to tell my neighbours about asbestos removal?
WorkSafe Victoria requires formal notification before licensed removal begins, and it's good practice to let adjoining neighbours know for larger jobs. Dig Dig manages the notification as part of the process.
What is an asbestos clearance certificate?
